I am sitting in a coffee shop in Odesa, the owner Kostya has spent months perfecting canele (he’s never been to France, we bought him some Babelle ones from London to try and he sent away by post for French copper moulds and beeswax) - and now they really are perfect! I wish there could be a massive wave of hype for him.
Yes! Agree so much on the overhype > disappointing puddings you end up spending actual £12 on. Cannot handle anymore pistachio flavour that's just sugar paste. I also felt like that about Creme cookies though - I tried the croissant one and thought it was so average, what am I missing? Tried cookies from Sable in Fulham recently and they are DIVINE.
I think the secret with Créme is to keep your order simple – I tend to just go for a regular choc chip and it always hits. Not managed to get to Sable but sounds so good!
Glad someone else also has a soft spot for Creme cookies! I hate that I love them but I do they are just swooooon worthy.
they're my favourite hahaha I feel the same !!
Creme's malt soft serve is one of my favourite ice creams in London, and the portion size is HUGE.
